I just wanted to share some new photos that I took these past two weeks that I really liked.

The first one was shot with the Kodak Gold 200 film simulation. I think the symmetry is really pleasing. Amos is situated in the bottom right 1/3, and the words “Heritage Park Library” are situated at the top 1/3. If you zoom in, you can also see some of the applied film grain as well. From a zoomed out perspective, it doesn’t appear to be too noisy of a photo. But when you zoom in, it definitely starts to take on the appearance of some of those old film photos we used to have. I like it a lot! The colors are also fairly muted as well, and I appreciate that it doesn’t look like it was taken on a smartphone.

The second one was shot with Reggie’s Portrait film simulation at Bacio di Latte at the Irvine Spectrum. My favorite part is the lighting – it illumininates Veronica and Amos’ faces, but they stand out from the background light. This photo was taken at an ISO of 200, but it definitely looks “noisier” than the first photo. I think that it doesn’t appear overall appear softer, especially because I used a GlimmerGlass 1. I’m not sure how I feel about the GlimmerGlass yet – I like the softness sometimes, but it also overdoes the glowing around direct light sources.
I took a lot of photos these past two weeks, and I only ended up with these two really good ones. I guess that photography is partly a numbers game.
